118cm high, base integral, oak with black patina. (8/2000) Dance is festival and all dancing figures which have been discovered appear to be associated with one of the four stages of the solar year. The darkness of color here suggests the winter solstice. On the other hand the basic form is much like that of the Spring Dancer. The headlessness indicates a relationship to Ecstasy and consequently the concept of dancing to a state of abandon. |
