One-eyed totems represent a special insight or knowledge and probably as well, a blind eye for human foibles and wishes. Shrines or temples dedicated to this totem were relatively rich because of the offerings made to try of influence fate. Humanity is educated and sophisticated but still wishes to know or guide the future via irrational means.
